Ian Angell Ian Angell is one of Britain's leading IT experts, acting as consultant on information systems to some of the world's leading companies. His controversial views on the global consequences of IT have given him a well-publicized reputation as a futurologist. His dystopian forecasts often appear in the media, and his predictions for the new millennium gave him the title "Angell of Doom." Angell's book, The New Barbarian Manifesto, offers advice on how to survive in this increasingly harsh world.
Angell gained his first degree in pure mathematics at the University of Wales and went on to do a Ph.D. in algebraic number theory. He began his academic career in 1971 as a lecturer at Royal Holloway College, University of London. He became a senior lecturer at University College, London, before joining the LSE in 1986 as professor of information systems. He is a member of the Steering Committee of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization at the Regional Office for Science and Technology in Europe. He is also a founding member of the European Organization for East-West Cooperation and the editor of the Macmillan series on information systems. | |||||||||||||||
