Jargalsaikhany Enkhsaikhan

Jargalsaikhany Enkhsaikhan has served as Mongolia's ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations since August 1996. He graduated from Moscow State University as an international lawyer in 1974 and received his doctor's degree in law in 1979. Fluent in Mongolian, French, Russian and English, Enkhsaikhan has been a major representative of Mongolia to the outside world for the past 21 years. He is the father of six children.

In 1997, he was elected chairman of the Group of Land-Locked States at the United Nations and the NorthEast Asia subregional consultative group meeting of Land-locked and Transit Development Countries. As executive secretary of the National Security Council of Mongolia, 1994-6, Enkhsaikhan was instrumental in the consideration and adoption by the parliament of Mongolia of the official concepts of national security and foreign policy and the basis of the military doctrine.
