Arnold Aronson

Arnold Aronson received a B.A. from Rutgers (1969) and an M.A. and Ph.D. from New York University (1975, 1977). He is the author of American Avant-Garde Theatre, American Set Design and The History and Theory of Environmental Scenography, and served as the editor of Theatre Design Technology (1978-88) and produced the US exhibit at the 1995 Prague Quadrennial. His articles have appeared in the Cambridge History of American Theatre, Cambridge Guide to World Theatre, Cambridge Guide to American Theatre, The Drama Review, American Theatre, Theatre Forum and Theatre Research International. He was chair of the Theatre Arts Division at Columbia University from 1991 to 1998, and prior to that he chaired the theater departments at Hunter College and the University of Michigan. He has also taught at the University of Delaware, Cornell University and the University of Virginia.
