Dudley Baines

Dudley Baines is currently reader in economic history at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Educated at the LSE, Cornell University and Cambridge, Baines has taught at Liverpool University and at the London School of Economics, the latter since 1968. He has held various visiting positions at UC Berkeley, Monash (Melbourne) and Melbourne Universities, the Cambridge Group for the History of Population & Social structure and Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. He is the author of Migration in a Mature Economy and European Emigration, 1815-1930, as well as many articles and chapters in books about the history of the international economy and the labour market in Britain and elsewhere.
