Gillian Beer Professor Dame Gillian Beer, the King Edward VII Professor of English Literature, has been President of Clare Hall, Cambridge University, UK, since October 1994. She is honorary fellow at St Anne's College and Girton College, Cambridge, and Vice-President of the British Academy.
Beer's major works include Meredith: A Charge of Masks (1970); The Romance (1970); Darwin's Plots (1983); George Eliot (1986); Arguing with the Past (1989); and Forging the Missing Link (1994). | |||||||||||||||
