Fred Adams
Fred Adams received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1988. Recipient of the Helen B. Warner Prize and a professor of physics at the University of Michigan, Adams works on several different subjects within the area of theoretical astrophysics, including star formation, background radiation fields, the early universe, and the future history of the universe. In the area of star formation, he has studied the radiative signature of the star formation process and gravitational instabilities in the disks that form along with young stellar objects. In addition to continuing these topics, he is currently studying the physics of molecular clouds, the environmental effects of star formation, and the initial mass function. He is also interested in the phase transition of the early universe.
