Jan Marsh is the author of The Pre-Raphaelite Sisterhood (1985) and biographies of Dante Gabriel and Christina Rosetti. She has written widely on gender and society in the nineteenth century. She is currently a visiting professor at the Humanities Research Centre of the University of Sussex, and is working on Victorian representations of ethnicity.
