Christiana Payne
Christiana Payne is a senior lecturer in History of Art at Oxford Brookes University. She has curated two exhibitions, the catalogues for which have been published: Toil and Plenty: Images of the Agricultural Landscape in England, 1780-1890 (Yale University Press, 1993) and Rustic Simplicity: Scenes from Cottage Life in Nineteenth-Century Britain (Lund Humphries/Djanogly Art Gallery, 1998). With Steve King, she is editing a special issue of Textile History on ‘The Dress of the Poor, 1750-1900’. Her current research is on depictions of coastal scenery in nineteenth-century British art.
