Tony Rice
Tony Rice did his first degree and PhD in marine biology at the University of Liverpool. Apart from a two-year fellowship at the University of Miami, he has spent his working life in the UK, employed successively by Unilever, The Natural History Museum in London and the Natural Environment Research Council's Institute of Oceanographic Sciences, where he led the deep-sea benthic biology team for 26 years. He has published over 200 research papers, as well as more general articles and books. Since his retirement in 1998 he has concentrated on writing books and acting as a marine environmental consultant.
