| Fred Adams |
Fred Adams received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1988. Recipient of the Helen B. Warner Prize and a professor of physics at the University of Michigan, Adams works on several different subjects within the area of theoretical astrophysics, including star formation, background radiation fields, the early universe, and the future history of the universe. In the area of star formation, he has studied the radiative signature of the star formation process and gravitational instabilities in the disks that form along with young stellar objects. In addition to continuing these topics, he is currently studying the physics of molecular clouds, the environmental effects of star formation, and the initial mass function. He is also interested in the phase transition of the early universe. He is also interested in phase transitions in the early universe.

| Greg Laughlin |
Greg Laughlin received his doctorate from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and was a National Science Foundation Fellow at the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan. After conducting teaching and research at the University of California, Berkeley, Greg joined the NASA Ames Research Center. There, his research interests focus on constructing numerical simulations of the formation and evolution of stars and planetary systems. In particular, he is interested in what happens at the very beginning (the collapse of molecular cloud cores to form protostars surrounded by disks) and at the very end (the fate of objects over timescales vastly exceeding the current age of the universe).
