Rosalind Gill is a Lecturer in Gender Studies and Gender Theory and an active member of the Media@lse team based at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Rosalind Gill did her doctoral research with the discourse and rhetoric Group at Loughborough University, and moved to the LSE from Goldsmiths College where she was a lecturer in Sociology. Her broad interests are in social theory, especially in discourse analysis, post structuralism and psychoanalysis. Her work is animated by questions about identity, difference and subjectivity; ideology and hegemony; and power and social transformation. Her research is focused on contemporary media (including radio and new media) and on gender identities. Gill has recently completed a book Gender and the Media : Audiences, Representations and Cultural Politics which explores some of these issues in relation to the contemporary media. She also teaches a course on gender and the media for MSc students.
