The Void
In 'The Void' (2000) Wang expresses the central ideas of Daoism. One of these is that when their ruler
is not wise, people should retire from public life to perfect themselves
and seek to live in harmony with the spirit of 'The Way' or 'Dao'. In this piece, Wang has superimposed
a massive character for wu ('nothingness' or 'void') over the text of the first two chapters of the Daodejing.
