| Elizabeth going to procession in Blackfriars in 1600. This painting was produced around 1601. Elizabeth was close to the end of her life and a youthful mask was still being used to represent her face. This canvas is attributed to Robert Peake and depicts Elizabeth borne aloft wearing a white dress studded with jewels. All the men, the courtiers paying obeisance, in the image are bareheaded in homage to her royalty. |
