An engraved invitation to a "Ball to be given in honor of Mr. Charles Dickens."
Held on the evening of February 14, 1842, at the Park Theatre, the "Boz Ball" was, according to one historian, the most brilliant and lavish entertainment of the kind that New York had ever witnessed up to that date.
