Ben Russell is Assistant Curator of Mechanical Engineering at the Science Museum. With a background in economic history at the University of Sussex, he specialises in British industrial development since 1750 and the history of manufacturing technology and motive power, and has carried out considerable unpublished statistical research into the economic diffusion of steam technology. Prior to joining the Science Museum he acquired an MA in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester and worked in the conservation of industrial artefacts.
