Alexandra Porter is assistant curator for the "Queen of Sheba: Treasures from Ancient Yemen" exhibition at the British Museum. She is currently completing a Ph.D. on the archaeology of Yemen. Much of the information in this seminar is drawn from Nigel Groom's chapter, "Trade, Incense and Perfume," in the catalogue accompanying the "Queen of Sheba: treasures of Ancient Yemen" exhibition at the British Museum and from Andrew Dalby{A146}s book Dangerous Tastes, both published by the British Museum Press.
