EDITOR'S INTRODUCTION |
Abused woman may be less likely to negotiate safer-sex relationships, argues Claudia L. Moreno (right), an assistant professor of social work at Columbia University. In this article, Moreno explores the complex relationship between partner abuse and HIV-risk behavior among HIV-positive Latina women and examines the idea that cultural factors such as machismo and marianismo should be incorporated into HIV-prevention or intervention models targeted at Hispanic women. This article presents preliminary results from Moreno's pilot study, "La Mujer." |
