Mein Kampf, by Adolf Hitler. Munich: Franz Eher. Nachfolger, 1925.
After his defeat in the Munich Putsch in November 1923, Hitler was sentenced to five years at Landsberg prison but was freed in December
1924 after serving only one year. During that time, he wrote Mein Kampf; the first volume appeared in 1925, the second in 1926.
Part autobiography, part summary of Hitler's arguments on the inequality of the races, the book concludes with a sort of prophecy: "A
state which in this age of racial poisoning dedicates itself to the care of its best racial elements must some day become lord of the
earth."
