Coccoderma bavaricumwas a coelacanth that swam in shallow seas in what is now Bavaria during the late Jurassic period. The fossil shows the sail-like first dorsal fin and the typical fan-shaped tail and terminal tuft so characteristic of all but the most primitive of coelacanths.
