EDITOR'S INTRODUCTION |
In the 1990s, Digital Video (DV) technology put lightweight, affordable and portable cameras into the hands of amateur and professional filmmakers. This new technology also enabled filmmakers to edit their work on a personal computer and deal directly with a distributable form of video. In October 2000, a group of filmmakers and industry experts convened at the American Film Institute's Digital Symposium to discuss what this new digital format allows filmmakers to create, both technically and creatively, and how DV technology empowers filmmakers in both the production and post-production process. |
AFI's panelists discuss how DV technology has revolutionized the filmmaking industry and who will benefit most dramatically from its usability.
