In 1926, a series of moving pictures were electrically transmitted into a new device called the television. Over the last seventy-five years, the box hasn't changed drastically, but new digital technologies, which transmit pictures and sound in the form of a binary computer code, are revolutionizing the way in which moving pictures are disseminated and downloaded. In this October 2000 Digital Symposium panel discussion, hosted by the American Film Institute, filmmakers and web-content professionals discuss the digital revolution that may not only improve the quality of content dissemination, but also widen its distribution. |
