or more than 100 years, the Jewish Theological Seminary of America has been the academic heart of Conservative Judaism, and the JTSA's Joseph and Miriam Ratner Center for the Study of Conservative Judaism(www.jtsa.edu/research/ratner/
) is the central archival repository of the seminary and the Conservative movement. The center contains the historical records of more than 100 synagogues from around the country, dating from the early nineteenth century to the present. The archives also hold the historical records of the Jewish Theological Seminary from its reorganization in 1902 through the 1980s. The site includes a guide to the primary sources and special collections at the center, including papers of Conservative rabbis and records of synagogues and other institutions. There is also an oral-history section and a photo collection featuring more than 5,000 pictures of JTS personalities, buildings and events from the past century. |
