Silky Shark

The silky shark Carcharhinus falciformis is named for the smoothness of its skin, resulting from its very small, flat dermal denticles. It is a tropical shark, growing to 3.5 m (11.5 ft) long, and is often found in schools feeding alongside tuna, dolphins and seabirds. A school will sometimes congregate beneath a floating log or other large floating object, such as a large naval target, a buoy or a stationary boat in deeper water.
